ABSTRACT

Flash dryers are typical examples of suspended bed dryers. Flash drying of fine solid materials is based on the phenomenon of the homogenous suspension of these materials by the hydrodynamic effect due to the upward flow of the drying and conveying medium. Drying ducts and feed systems are very important in terms of successful flash dryer design. Feed to a flash dryer must be in particle form. The flash dryers used in industry can be analyzed in two groups, conventional and alternate designs. The Raymond flash dryer has conventional design features, namely, the drying air, after being heated, is sent to the bottom of the vertical conveying and drying duct. Flash dryers can be used to dry most chemicals, food products, polymers, several byproducts, and minerals. The Raymond flash dryer is used for drying fine minerals, spent grain, organic chemicals, and fine coal filter cakes.
