ABSTRACT

The main objective of this work was to assess the possibility of recycling sewage sludge dried, using eggshell as adjuvant, for agronomic applications. The effects of these two wastes in growth parameters (e.g. root length) and soil properties (e.g. organic matter) were investigated. Germination studies indicated that sewage sludge mixed with eggshell reduce its phytotoxicity. The results from the pot experiments showed that the amendments tested improved the shoot length of the plants. Moreover, the application of sewage sludge and eggshell reduced the acidity of the soil and increased the organic matter. This study demonstrated the feasibility of recycling these two wastes in land applications with some important contributes to amend the soil characteristics.
