ABSTRACT

This work aimed to verify the potential of bamboo wastes and pinus wood to produce particleboards. The boards were produced with 9% urea- formaldehyde adhesive, with press cycle with temperature 160° C, pressure 4.00 MPa and time of 8 minutes. The nominal density established for the boards was 0.59 g cm−3. Particleboards of bamboo, pinus and boards with 50% of bamboo and 50% of pinus were produced. Were evaluated the modulus of elasticity (MOE) and modulus of rupture (MOR) in static bending, internal bond (IB), nominal density (ND), thickness swelling (TS) and water absorption (WA). Based on the results it can be concluded that the production of the bamboo particleboards are viable.
