ABSTRACT

Since primitive times, humans have used technology in changing their lives for the better. Even small technological developments have led to new civilizations or other key historical moments and, in turn, humans have developed technology to serve a variety of purposes, mainly aimed at effective and productive results. It is important to understand the role of the ‘design’ element of the technology, which is fed by positive and social sciences. From the educational science perspective, this study will discuss current technological advancements and perspectives, drawing on historical experiences of humans in relation to technology and how to make sense of these technologies from the angle of economy-politics in all levels of education and teaching praxis. New technologies in education will be introduced, and some models and approaches will be discussed in practice, such as the Technological Pedagogical Content Knowledge model and computational thinking.
