ABSTRACT

The study aims at providing an understanding of the Ideology in the state speaker of the president of the Republic of Indonesia, particularly in the education field. The analysis is done from the perspectives of the following disciplines; Ontology, Epistemology, and Axiology. Ontology is a subfield of metaphysics that deals with the study of beings, the method used in this study is referred to as the Critical Discourse Analysis (CDA) model of Norman Fairclough. Epistemology, on the other hand, is concerned with the arrival of scientific truth, through the use of scientific methods. Here data was collected using the following techniques; documentation, literature review, note-taking, and interviews. Data analysis involved the connection of micro, mediate, and macro elements in three dimensions, namely, text, discourse, and socio-cultural practice. Finally, the last area of analysis is axiology with deals with questions pertaining to human values. The questions it seeks to address are whether one is moral or immoral, or whether their values are considered as good or bad. The main aim of this study is to act as a reference point to future studies, besides understanding how the Indonesian president instills values while delivering the state of the nation address.
