ABSTRACT

Traffic signs are a tool used to provide road users with information about the rules that must be followed. Traffic signs must be introduced early on to children; this is because many drivers do not obey traffic signs when driving. We developed an Android-based educational game for elementary schools that provides an introduction to traffic signs in a fun way that doesn’t feel like learning in the true sense. Our application test was carried out on 30 elementary school students in grade 5. The method we used to measure the cognitive abilities of students was to carry out a pre-test, play a game, and then carry out a post-test. The pre-test and post-test process provide multiple-choice questions. The process of playing games lasts for 10–20 minutes, every day for two months. At the end, we do a post-test. From the results of the post-test conducted by researchers, it was found that the educational traffic sign game developed by the researchers is capable of helping elementary school students better understand traffic signs and their function. Researchers used ISO 9126-3 usability factors, and, based on the test results, the educational game application is very useful as a medium for primary school student learning aids.
