ABSTRACT

The transformation of technology following the development of mobile devices has given rise to significant changes in today’s educational system and daily life. To take advantage of these changes, this study proposes the digital mind-mapping tool Bubbl.us for improving undergraduates’ writing abilities via a mobile-based technology approach in a public university. The instrument used for the collection of data was a survey questionnaire. The study aims to investigate students’ attitudes pertaining to the use of this digital mind-mapping tool and how it helped them to increase their interests in writing via a mobile-based technology approach. The results revealed that study participants had positive attitudes toward the use of the digital mind-mapping tool via mobile devices. It could be concluded that the use of the digital mind mapping tool among ESL undergraduates should be encouraged, as it helps to motivate undergraduates and create a positive attitude toward writing in English.
