ABSTRACT

This paper is a brief overview of the ideas presented in a presentation at the International Conference on Innovation in Education and Pedagogy: ICIEP 2019, in Tangerang, Indonesia on 5 October 2019. The joint organizers of the conference were Universitas Terbuka Indonesia and research Synergy Foundation. Much is made of the value of STEM disciplines in regard to Industry 4.0 and Education 4.0 but attention must also be paid to how humans interact and dialogue in these disciplines. That too is changing as a result of Industry 4.0 and the increased globalisation of work. This paper examines some aspects of the altered human interactions, and some distinct “cultures” that emerge from a digitally engaged world. It focuses on how global interactions influence changing perspectives in intercultural understanding.
