ABSTRACT

Industrial constructions must be built to create the best possible working conditions with the fewest possible physical and chemical risks. Industrial constructions can be of one or more stories though one story constructions offer definite advantages: far easier access, floors that can hold up under heavy loads, and simple rapid exits for personnel. Lighting is one of the most important environmental factors having a direct effect on personnel. Areas of production with high risk of explosion, poisoning, and fire must be closed off by special resistant partitions for the full period of the reaction time of the critical agent. In laboratories and installations where highly toxic substances known for causing severe accidents are used, a series of measures to cut risks even when minimal amounts are present must be included in the planning phase. The components of the installation and the machinery using electricity must be installed so as to ensure smooth running, control and use.
