ABSTRACT

This chapter reviews the prominence of nanomedicine research in the USA among some of the top health and medicine academic research institutions. Nanotechnology-enabled medicine or nanomedicine is one of the most popular applications of nanotechnology. The shooter referenced above is a twisted example of the consequences of post-truth fiction. The public is unprepared for a truth-free society where anyone can make any claim they want wherein the “fact police” determine what faction deserves to be rebutted and debunked. The chapter assessments how effective nanomedicine can be at implementing individualized care to the public. Public Communication of Science and Technology continues to investigate the linkage between claims about nanomedicine and the broader implications associated with those claims: personalized and individualized medicine. Despite the notable promises professed for nanomedicine’s therapeutic implications—Personalized Medicine and Precision Medicine—there are notable constraints that prevent the actualization of widespread implementation.
