ABSTRACT

This paper expounds the modeling, simulation and performance evaluation of a grid-connected photovoltaic power system based on hybrid energy storage system (HESS). After adopting an active connection method to connect the HESS with DC bus, an energy compatibility control measure based on the DC bus voltage adjustment and the state of charge is put forward, to ensure the system efficiency and safety. Moreover, by analyzing simulated scenarios with the step change in solar irradiance and grid fault, the dynamic performance of the system in the critical working condition is evaluated. Finally, the evaluation results on simulations based on PSCAD/EMTDC are given.
