ABSTRACT

This study attempts to investigate whether a competitive or cooperative strategy is more preferable in the creating value in agriculture sector, by which the integrated farming systems is applied. This study used a non-participative observation. Interview with some key informants in the Rural Bandung of West Java, Indonesia was conducted to collect the data needed for this study. The findings revealed that the ability of the farmers to reach competitive advantages in farming depended on their ability to cooperate among existing agents and local institutions at the community level.
