ABSTRACT

The democratic dynamics of the representative system in the election of regional heads in Gianyar Regency is the implementation of policies issued in the reformation era. Direct elections in Gianyar Regency were carried out in 2008 and 2012. The problem raised in this study is the political participation of people of the Gianyar district in the direct election in the reformation era. The objective of the study is to identify and describe the political participation of the community and the influential power relations in the direct elections of the reformation era. This study used qualitative research methods. The data collected through observation, interview, document study and literature study, are presented through the stages of reduction, presentation and conclusions drawing. The results of the analysis showed that he political participation is still high because of the public’s knowledge and local figure, especially the rural community.
