ABSTRACT

Employee performance in the Production Division at PT Samick Indonesia is indicated to be low, as seen from the lack of a sense of responsibility of employees, which resulted in production levels that do not meet targets. It is possible that this is because the placement of employees in the Production Division is not effective due to a mismatch between abilities, skills, and expertise with job specialization, as well as inappropriate placement of academic knowledge and skill. This research uses a quantitative method with an associative statistical approach to determine the relationship between employee placement as independent variable with work performance as dependent variable. The data collection was done by distributing questionnaires to the employees in the Production Division at PT Samick Indonesia, with as many as 60 respondents. Data analysis and statistical hypothesis testing was performed by simple linear regression analysis. The conclusion of this study was that employee placement’s influence on work performance obtained a correlation coefficient value of r = 0.49. The results of statistical hypothesis testing was that there is a significant effect of employee placement on job performance in the Production Section at PT Samick Indonesia. The amount of influence of employee placement on work performance was based on the coefficient of determination, at 24.01%; and the remaining 75.99% was influenced by other factors not discussed in this research.
