ABSTRACT

This paper aims to discover what similarities and differences J. R. R. Tolkien and Stephen King display in their masterpieces The Lord of the Rings and The Dark Tower series respectively by comparing the synopsis, inspiration sources and personal purpose the two works present. Once the comparison is made, we will draw conclusions that will shed light on the creative process, and the ambitions of both writers when creating two of the most important literary works associated, among others, with the fantasy genre.
