ABSTRACT
The chapter focuses on the pertinent characteristics of chronic total arterial occlusions (CTOs) and the challenges relevant to proceduralists during revascularization. The authors introduce basic tools and techniques needed for treating CTOs, specifically describing how specialized devices are employed to facilitate a critical step in the procedure known as “re-entry” into the true (natural) lumen of an artery after crossing through a false lumen.
