ABSTRACT
The pasture is the land unit which is most often associated with beef production systems, and most beef animals begin and spend a good part of their lives on the pasture. Forage crops, particularly perennial grasses, are basic elements of pastures and supply much of the feed for beef animals. These perennial grasses also stabilize the land unit by protecting the soil from water and wind erosion.
