ABSTRACT
Agriculture in the United States has changed dramatically in the 20th century. The technology, organization, and structure of agriculture are dynamic, and future changes may dwarf past ones. The evolution of agriculture will have important impacts on farmers and society at large. The purpose of this book is to explain past changes in structure, identify factors leading to structural changes, analyze the effects of structural change on the well being of society, and suggest where structural change will lead in the future.
