ABSTRACT

The Xianghe water conservancy and irrigation channel project is located in Nanmulin County, Shigatse City, Tibet. The project will change the hydrological situation and the wetland ecology of the Xianghe River valley, a wintering place for black-necked cranes. Based on the analysis and simulation of river hydrology situation after construction, riverside ecology changes of black- necked cranes was calculated, and then the impact to the black-necked cranes was studied by the method of ecological mechanism analysis, the result showed that ecological flows is enough. To minimize the negative impact to the black-necked crane and the nature reserve, the project proposed all kinds of optimization measures, such as canceling upgrade of the irrigation channel in the nature reserve, restoring the habitat, increasing the grain falling in farmland, adjusting the planting structure and stopping construction operation nearby the activity area of black-necked crane during the overwintering period. Through the implementation of the above measures, the tasks of irrigation, power generation and improving the regional ecology will be realized, the black-necked crane will be able to overwinter in the Xianghe River valley for a long time.
