ABSTRACT

Degradation of Congo red dye was studied using synthesized nano TiO2 and carbon under visible light. The nano materials were synthesized by sol-gel and co-precipitation doped TiO2 methods. The synthesized nanoparticles were characterized by XRD and SEM. The band gap energy was found to be 2.88 eV. All the experiments conducted at 10ppm dye concentration studied for effect of catalyst dosage and pH on dye degradation. Maximum degradation was observed and low catalyst dosage of 75mg and pH 3. Carbon doped TiO2 is more active when compared to un-doped TiO2 for the degradation of Congo red. The kinetics of degradation of dye was found to be pseudo first order.
