ABSTRACT

This paper presents a generalized sector detection technique for space vector modulation applied to any N-level modular inverter topology. The proposed sector detection scheme only requires the three-phase voltage vectors in order to find the triangular sector without d-q transformation. Proposed scheme is able to detect the appropriate sector even if there is variation in line side or load side conditions without involving any additional circuitry or logic. The simulation results are presented for various steady-state and dynamic conditions, which makes five-level converter to operate from two-level mode of operation to fivtese-level including all intermediate level of operation. In all the conditions, proposed scheme is able to select the appropriate sector without involving any complex mathematical calculation or additional circuitry, which makes it generalized for any N-level modular inverter topology.
