ABSTRACT

Groundnut is a key oil seed crop among nine oilseeds crops grown in our country. South America was the place from where cultivation of groundnut originated. India is the largest producers of oilseeds in the world and occupies vital position in the Indian agricultural economy. This crop is prone to attack by various diseases and pest to a greater extent compare to other crops. Most important factors contributing to low yield are disease and pest attack. Around 55 pathogens have been reported to affect groundnut. Management of pest and diseases help farmers to reduce crop damage from pests and increase food production. They are very important as they improve the quality and yield of produce. Crop rotation with non-host crops and field sanitation and early sowing in the month of June will reduce the disease incidence. Removal of volunteer and self-sown groundnut plants reduce the primary sources of inoculum.
