ABSTRACT

In Indian food, ginger is a key ingredient, especially in thicker gravies, as well as in many other dishes, both vegetarian and non-vegetarian. Bacterial wilt is one of the most important diseases of ginger, their symptoms appeared in the month of July and August. The affected margins of the leaves are turned in to bronze color and curled to the backside. The disease is caused by complexion of fungus and nematode. In comparison to rhizome rot, dry rot appears in field as small patches and spreads slowly. Stunted growth appears after the infection also exhibits the yellowing of foliage. The infection of the disease started at the collar portion of the pseudostem, and further progression appears upwards as well as downwards. Soil drenching with Ridomil, rhizome treatment with same fungicide is an effective measures for the management of this disease. Anusuya and Sathiyabama reported the chitosan played an important role in growth suppression of Pythium aphanidermatum infection in turmeric plants.
