ABSTRACT

The main problems associated with carrot production are diseases caused by bacteria. Bacteria are microscopic, single-celled, rod-shaped organisms that multiply quickly in the plant, which causes enormous yield loss in carrot. Disease management strategies, including cultural practices in addition to chemical disease control, are used to limit economic losses to diseases. Bacterial leaf blight is an explosive disease that develops rapidly under hot, wet, and windy conditions. The presence of a trace level of infection in the field requires action. The bacteria must have relatively high moisture and high temperature for rapid development. A storage temperature just above the freezing point and a relative humidity below 90% check the development of the disease. Disease management in carrot production is necessary to produce high yields of high-quality carrots. The major concern is the production of a disease-free and cleans carrot root.
