ABSTRACT

The condition of public street lighting (Penerangan Jalan Utama) (PJU) at the moment does not meet the standard criteria set by the Perusahaan Listrik Negara (PLN), a situation caused by the behavior of people who install the street lighting incorrectly. Such activities may cause greater power consumption, which increases the monthly costs as well. As an effort to deal with the problem, it is necessary to create electronically controlled public street lighting (e-PJU). This e-PJU system is a combination of modern programming technology with microcontroller technology and Internet Protocol (IP)-based networking, which will be implemented on e-PJU devices. The model is also equipped with a monitoring and security system that can provide information on real-time lighting conditions, temperature, and the status of the lights. The e-PJU model will be integrated with Android for monitoring in real time, and e-PJU activity will be logged to facilitate information before conducting regular maintenance.
