ABSTRACT

A well-designed workspace can increase productivity and enable efficient use of space. Despite the well-designed space concept, there are also cultures and habits that indirectly affect the use of interior space functions and the atmosphere in the workspace. Therefore, this research aimed to identify the issues with implementing well-designed space for private workspaces in Surabaya City. The case study for this project is portfolios were designed by students Regina, Aileen and Leony from the Interior Design Department – Petra Christian University. The research method was qualitative research. The method used to collect primary data was direct observation, interviews, and literature studies. Analysis was carried out by comparing literature data with field data. This analysis created a solution for the implementation of well-designed interior space in the directors’ room in Surabaya. The design will help the workers to improve their performance, for example adding plants could provide a sense of comfort and creativity.
