ABSTRACT

This article aims at developing a media and information literacy culture capable of dealing with the increasing daily rate of hoax news. The methodology adopted is normative juridical, with research specifications and descriptive analysis, while the data source consists of secondary and qualitative analysis. The results of the study indicate that literacy culture is a habit adopted to always check the truth of information. This uses information literacy elements such as visual, media, computer, digital, and network literacies, with the ability to understand, analyse and deconstruct media imagery, in order to respond to the circulation of hoax news.
