ABSTRACT

Industrial Automation and Control Systems also known as Cyber Physical Systems (CPS) were isolated systems. With the advent of the Internet of Things (IoT), whereby devices or “Things” have the capability to connect to each other and the Internet for sharing of data, cyber physical systems have also embraced increasing connectivity and are converting into Industrial IoT (IIoT). Moreover, such networks are increasingly relying on cloud resources such as for storage of data, and big data processing. Both IoT and CPS use the same underlying technology; and their connectivity to external networks (Internet/Cloud) makes them more vulnerable to attacks. Several security incidents and cybercrime have been reported, and the need to extend digital forensic investigations to IoT and CPS systems is of increasing importance. However, the traditional forensics approach may not be suitable for the IoT environments. The challenges related to IoT and Cloud environment digital forensics are presented in this chapter as well as the techniques and frameworks proposed for embracing IoT and Cloud forensics. [167]
