ABSTRACT

Elastomeric components are largely selected to ensure many different functions on helicopters. Some of them, for instance on dynamic systems, present stringent requirements due to the combination of their failure severity with the associated loading and environmental operating conditions. Despite the improvements already introduced by this technology, the helicopters industry expectations regarding components performances (reliability, propagation time …) are still increasing, but development cycle reduction and risks management purposes make expectations even more important regarding elastomer industry capabilities. All those expectations, dealing with both product and industry performances, obviously constitute improvement ways for the aeronautical elastomer industry, but also investigation ways for the academic and research institutions.
