ABSTRACT

Business requirements are changing fast, while the technology and communication world moves forward every second, and business is increasingly relying on technology systems. In turn, every smart system needs a reliable and scalable infrastructure more than ever. In recent years, the Internet of Things (IoT) has provided a remarkable piece of the collective infrastructure, which is a foundation for the future Internet. Decentralized systems are growing, and cloud computing has become more prominent than ever. However, all these technology progressions are useful only if they enable businesses to grow. IoT participants, considering their local limitations, have used large-scale cloud services or distributed resources to maximize throughput by now. Capability growth, besides adding value, is a challenge, while each business component requires varying services and has different constraints. This chapter offers a solution, using known research and recent studies, to fix the challenge. It proposes utilizing a structured and business-oriented framework based on blockchain technology. The proposing framework named ‘Interchain’ introduces a new concept for future Internet research activities. Based on a blockchain platform, it covers several business processes flows, starting with service-provisioning techniques, through a scalable, reliable, and valid network of ‘democratic’ collaborating entities over the IoT.
