ABSTRACT

The purpose of this article is to acquaint the readers with the activities realized during the project Surveying and astronomical instruments used in the Czech lands from 16th to 20th century. The aim of the project is to develop methodologies and procedures that enable the preservation and unified information management about old surveying and astronomical-geodetic instruments. During the theoretical part of the processing, the descriptive in-formation about instruments stored in a number of libraries, archives and depositories is collected. The technical solution is divided into two parts. The first part the technical parameters of the instruments including their accuracy specifications are determined. The second part is devoted to acquisition of photographic documentation of instruments and creation of virtual 3D models. Part of the solution is also to create software. This software will allow the management of the collected data by the owners of instruments and their presentation in multimedia kiosks.
