ABSTRACT

In Japan, interests on the impact of fault displacement on nuclear facilities have increased and been recognized as one of the urgent issues for nuclear safety. However, the damage process of the structures under the event of fault displacement remains to be elucidated due to the lack of observed and test data. In order to confirm the feasibility of the numerical procedures to simulate the damage process of the structure above the fault displacement, the authors conducted the 3D-FE analysis of Shih-Gang Dam in Chi-Chi Earthquake (Taiwan, 1999). Throughout this study, we acquired a prospect of the feasibility of the procedures.
