ABSTRACT

The science of living systems teaches people how they manage to align their energy with the unbiased purpose of proactively and sustainably co-creating a maximum of shared value for all stakeholders, with minimal energy investment, while maintaining optimal evolvability. The field of biology has recently also come to realize that the traditional reductionist mind-set based on closed system assumptions completely fails to explain processes in living, biological systems: there are too many biological effects that cannot be understood without reference to quantum phenomena. In living systems, elements interact with one another in non-linear, non-deterministic, non-trivial ways. Traditional biology is still trapped in a paradigm in which the only phenomena are described that can be reduced to a collection of particles, the movement of which is governed by linear dynamics rules, driving the overall system toward a deterministic, predictable “fate”.
