ABSTRACT

This chapter proposes a measure of node resilience for network systems. This measure analyzes the effect of different nodes on cascading failure and the Matrix of Node Resilience (MNR) is defined considering all types of initial failure nodes. The chapter introduces more details about the example network, mainly including the generation of the example network which can reflect the network topology, cascade failures in various situations and new network diagrams after failure and feature analysis of elements in corresponding cases. It considers different initial failure nodes as different cascading failure types. Then the process of residual load transmission is simulated according to hierarchical cascading failure model. The topological structure of the example network and the level values of the elements are described. The chapter also discusses the relationships between resilience and importance measures, and use a larger scale of the network to explore the numerical analysis.
