ABSTRACT
The purpose of this paper is to give some results regarding the set of elements of finite order in the group of units of an artinian ring; more precisely, we give necessary and suficient conditions for this set to form a subgroup of the unit group. We first list known facts on units of group rings that were the motivation for this study; then we prove new results on units of artinian rings in general.
