ABSTRACT

Tongmai natural barrier, located in Linzhi City, Tibet Autonomous Region, is a dangerous pass on the Sichuan-Tibet highway. The Tongmai Bridge across Tongmai natural barrier is a control project on the Sichuan-Tibet highway. In this paper, the Tongmai Bridge designed by CCCC First Highway Consultants Co., Ltd. was introduced in detail from the aspects of construction conditions, bridge scheme layout and critical design details. Based on this, the challenges encountered in the design process of the Tongmai Bridge, a 256m earth-anchor and steel trussed girder suspension bridge with single-tower and spatial cable plane were studied. The results show that the designers have successfully overcome these difficulties, the structure of the Tongmai Bridge is reasonably affected, the performance is excellent, and the indicators meet the relevant regulations of national industry norms. The design results of Tongmai Bridge can provide reference for the highway and railway construction in Tibet and boost the construction of a powerful transportation country of China.
