ABSTRACT

Sleeve connection is one of the main methods to join precast concrete bridge pier segments together. To ensure the life-cycle performance of precast segmental piers, the grouting quality should be monitored and evaluated during the construction stage. In this paper, different methods for sleeve grouting fullness test in precast bridge piers are presented, summarized and compared. The feasibility for in-situ application is discussed. A filed application case study is present. Both vibration sensor method and endoscope method are applied. Based on the current technology condition, vibration sensor method, embedded steel wire drawing method, and endoscope method are suggested for field test.
