ABSTRACT

The steel bridge is widely used in the world with various advantages such as light weight, large span, and environmental protection, but it’s prone to rust during use or storage. This article presents the current recommendations about corrosion protection of steel bridges by codes of China, United States, Japan, and Europe. Compared with the latter developed countries, granted that the production of weathering steel has reached the level of normal use and the studies and specifications of weathering steel have reached the same level as developed countries, closing to ISO specifications, but it’s still slightly behind the latter countries for impact toughness, comprehensive stability, environmental friendliness and standard formulation. Although Chinese anticorrosive coating technology has developed simultaneously with developed countries, its construction technology and management level still need to absorb the advanced experiences of developed countries with further improving material quality and the stability of construction process for environment friendly.
