ABSTRACT

Today, the wind turbine plays an important alternative role in the face of increasing energy needs. In this area, larger-scale designs are included in order to increase the efficiency of wind turbines and energy production. Large-sized wind turbines are exposed to loads in proportion to the energy they produce. In addition to wind loads, it is vital to consider earthquake loads for wind turbines in the earthquake zone. In this study, the stress distribution of turbine towers under earthquake and wind loads was analyzed using the finite element method and it was determined that the most stress was at the base of the tower. It is aimed to determine the peak ground acceleration (PGA) values that may occur in the area where the structure is located by the propagation of the different fatigue cracks that occur during the economic life of the wind turbine according to the case that the structure is unstable.
