ABSTRACT

In recent years, compared with construction management, the importance of tunnel oper- ation and maintenance management is becoming more and more prominent in China. The operation and maintenance of tunnel are facing huge challenges: increasing number of facilities, high maintenance cost and serious impact on surrounding traffic, etc. Therefore, how to optimize the operation and maintenance mode from life-cycle management perspective is significant for improving the performance of facilities and reducing the operation and maintenance cost. The life-cycle evaluation is the foundation of tunnel maintenance. This paper proposed the life-cycle evaluation framework (LCEF) for tunnel operation and maintenance to judge tunnel current status and future trend based on the data of tunnel design, construc- tion and operation phases. LCEF evaluates tunnel from four aspects of civil structure, electromechanical system, ancillary facilities and operation services and gives corresponding operation and maintenance strategies in term of the facility importance. LCEF has been applied in Hangzhou Wenyi Road tunnel. It is conducive to making long-term plan reasonably, improving the expected performance of the tunnel and reducing the operation and maintenance cost of the tunnel effectively in future.
