ABSTRACT

This paper presents a model for the analysis of the earthen defense heritage of southeast Spain which has been developed by the Spanish Ministry of Economy and Competitiveness PREFORTI R+D+i Project. The protocol configures a geo-referenced inventory which corresponds to the National Heritage Protection Plans. The catalogue is structured into two sections on the basis of the risk diagnosis.

Phase I: Information regarding the asset´s heritage on the basis of standard parameters.

Phase II: Information regarding its material, construction and structural characteristics, its state of conservation, the risk factors to which it is exposed, and its degree of vulnerability is incorporated into a GIS.

This model explores, firstly, how heritage assessment and risk diagnosis can be improved with the inclusion of information from multidisciplinary sources and secondly, the effect that the implementation of ICT in heritage management has on sustainable preventive conservation strategies.
