ABSTRACT

This paper shows recent results focused on the validation of a new nanodestructive and non-invasive sampling methodology based on novel SERS substrates for the detection of degradation markers and dyes from different types of museum artefacts. The procedure allows achieving detection limits much lower than those reached so far, opening the way to the use of SERS as an innovative tool for both the compositional analysis and the monitoring of ageing of museum artefacts.
