ABSTRACT

This chapter introduces the current approaches to leadership training in nanotechnology, including informal and formal educational models as well as leadership concepts that can be applied to the nanotechnology field and associated training goals. The Omni Nano nonprofit organization has played a key role in piquing the interest of high-school and undergraduate students by holding workshops that give an overview of cutting-edge nanotechnologies Omni Nano has been involved in addressing these needs by providing general nanotechnology courses that can be taught in schools or conducted virtually. There is a robust body of research in the field of leadership and management studies addressing areas as diverse as secondary and higher education, business and commerce, government and politics, and scientific research and development. A number of contemporary nanotechnology experts may be cited as examples of key leaders in nanotechnology/nanotechnology education.
