ABSTRACT

The purpose of Chapter 6 is to present a modeling method to guide those interested in the use of the DEA technique. The method proposed is called MMDEA, and was developed by the authors of this book. MMDEA consists of 20 steps, ranging from definition of the conceptual model of analysis to preparation of the final investigative report. The individual steps are discussed, such as definition of the time period and the DMU to be analyzed. Particular attention is paid to the methods for selecting input and output variables of the model. For this, some procedures are suggested, for example, utilization of methods found in the literature to select variables. MMDEA has been utilized in practical applications, contributing to the development of scientific research and managerial analyses of productivity and efficiency in organizations. Each MMDEA step is explained in detail to facilitate understanding. The authors hope it will be useful for readers in future analyses with utilization of DEA.
