ABSTRACT

The concept of energy intensity and efficient resource management is a discussed topic in all aspects of industry and economy. One of the areas in this issue is the energy efficiency of buildings. There has been a growth in the number of wood constructions in Slovakia (Central Europe) and the neighboring countries in recent years. However, little information has been collected about their actual use. Therefore, the objective of this research is an analysis of wood constructions in actual use. This is because only constructions in actual use can test theoretical assumptions by confronting them with actual practice. This chapter focuses on an analysis of panel wood constructions as the most wide-spread construction system in our region. So the object of our research consists of panel wood constructions in the context of the interactions among the technical–structural properties of wood constructions. Based on our research of wood constructions in actual use in the context of technical–structural aspects and their effect on operating resources during use, we may state that there are statistically significant effects and interactions among these examined parameters.
