ABSTRACT
Data Plane Development Kit (DPDK) can be applied to the storage system to improve the network efficiency. A network always plays a big role in the overall storage system performance. This chapter shares a few pain points and solutions, and how DPDK is used to optimize storage workload. The external network is the external interface to represent the storage service. The storage system consists of multiple servers to provide different storage services. Network storage system performance relies on the network performance and back-end storage system performance. It is a collection of software libraries to build high-performance storage systems. Storage Performance Development Kit (SPDK) provides both approaches to securing the data at rest. The recent SPDK was released in October 2019, and Opal vbdev was introduced. The hyper-converged infrastructure is a fast-growing business, running on common server platforms, but it offers virtualized computing, storage, and network capabilities.
