ABSTRACT

Concrete is one of the most important materials in a construction industry, among all the material used for construction purposes. The process of manufacturing of cement emits near about 8–10% of total world’s carbon dioxide. The current contribution of greenhouse gas emission from Portland cement production signifies the need for supplementary cementitious material as a supplementary pozzolana material for concrete. Also, there are many works that have been reported till today on use of GGBS, especially, with concrete containing natural stone aggregate. However, very few information is available on GGBS containing brick aggregate concrete. This paper reviews on the use of GGBS as cement replacement material and brick as a coarse aggregate replacement material using packing density mix design.
