ABSTRACT

The daily price hike of fuels, increasing pollution by vehicles and the huge consumption of depleting fossil fuels are major challenges to the day to day life of people. The only safe and clean solution to this is the adoption of electric vehicles. But electric vehicles face three major challenges, viz. high cost of electric vehicles, short driving range and longer recharge time which comes with the hassle of carrying around the components of plugged-in charging. This paper presents the development of wireless charging module to overcome the burden of plugged in charging with an improved efficiency, and with a convenience to charge the electric vehicle in a short time. Development of a wireless charging module to charge an EV and implementing that system to the current road transportation system will help electric vehicle owners to charge their vehicle while they are on the road. Implementing this technology to the current road transportation will increase the use of EVs by people and may also lead to the commercialization of EVs with smaller battery capacity having considerably lower cost.
