ABSTRACT

LVDC system is considered as an evolving area in power sector due to the increased use of renewable energy sources. Multiport converters ponder the use of renewable sources in day today applications. The system proposes a three-port converter for solar PV application in extra low voltage DC system. The converter is designed for feeding standalone DC loads which is backed up by a rechargeable battery. The converter utilizes a dynamic power flow management system using field programable gate array. The three-port converter operates in three modes, dual input mode, dual output mode and single input single output mode. The High-speed FPGA based controller combines maximum power point tracking, battery voltage regulation and output voltage control. The control scheme has been implemented utilizing the control regulators. Simulation studies have been carried out using MATLAB/Simulink environment for the three modes. The obtained results and performance show the relevance of the proposed converter topology in an ELVDC application.
