ABSTRACT

A single switch non-isolated DC-DC converter based LVDC system has been proposed. LVDC is a low power DC distribution system suitable for residential applications with an efficient power and control architecture. The converter is designed to extract the maximum power from PV panels using proposed PFM and PWM based algorithm and simultaneously it performs battery charging and discharging with respect to the variation in the load. Variable frequency control and duty cycle control are used to manage MPPT and output voltage regulation respectively. Simulation of the proposed system has been carried out using MATLAB/Simulink. A prototype of the single switch converter is implemented and the hybrid PWM and PFM modulation technique can be performed by FPGA based control.
